"Organization as a process. Interpretative sociology of
work
and organization."
REPORT FROM SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ORGANIZED FOR KBN PROJECT NR 2 HOE 016 23
Between 6 and 8 October 2005, in Nowa Gdynia by Łódź, an international
scientific conference took place. The Sociology of Organization and Management
Department of University of Łódź organized it. The conference "Organization as
a process. Interpretative sociology of work and organization." was a good
occasion to summarize a KBN Project Nr 2 HOE 016 23 and to discuss and exchange
experience in sociological research concerning organizational studies.
From many applications send in, organizers chose 44, to be presented in one of
five thematic sections. Among participants, there were sociologists from major
academic centers in Poland: Łódź, Warszawa, Kraków, Katowice, Lublin, Szczecin,
Poznań, Wrocław, Zielona Góra, Bielsko-Biała, Tychy), and as well from The
Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden. Aside from sociologists, economy, ethnology,
health-care, management and education specialists presented their papers.
On the first day, a section concerning "Methodological and theoretical aspects
of organization as a process" took place. It was chaired by Professor Dr hab.
Krzysztof T. Konecki. Presented papers (amid others by Prof. Dr hab. K. Konecki
i Prof. Dr hab. Ł. Sułkowski) showing ontological and epistemological problems,
were a good introduction for further debate. On the first day, there was also a
section "Cultural aspects of actions in organizations" chaired by Dr Beata
Pawłowska from UŁ, where their papers presented, among others, Prof. Dr hab. M.
Szczepański from Silesian University and Dr B. Glinka from Warsaw University.
The second day started with a continuation of "Cultural aspects of actions in
organizations" section, this time chaired by Prof. Dr hab. Sławomir Partycki
from Catholic University of Lublin. Subsequently a section "Identities and
biographies- organizational context" took place. It was chaired by Prof. Dr
hab. Jolanta Kulpińska from Łódź University and another one - "Work and
organizations" - chaired by Prof. Dr hab. S. Partycki.
For the third day of the conference, there was a section "Communication in
organizations" planned. Prof. Dr Sławomir Magala from Erasmus University in
Rotterdam chaired it.
